Our session times are:

Morning session

8.30am -12.15pm

Afternoon session

OUR ETHOS

At Sunflowers Nursery we recognise that the Early Years are uniquely important and we treasure those special moments as our children develop and grow.  Our nursery lays the foundations for the children to transition smoothly into school, grow and flourish to become confident, resilient and successful young children.

The children’s experience in our nursery is based around the unique child, supporting them to thrive in a safe and secure environment.  Sunflowers Nursery recognises that all children should feel happy, secure, confident and valued as individuals in a fun and stimulating learning environment.  We are a friendly team of staff who have many years experience in supporting and nurturing young children.

Our nursery learning is teacher-led, and we plan stimulating and enticing adult-led activities as well as engaging and supporting child-initiated interests and activities.  Learning can be experienced both inside and outside of the classroom, where we have our own spacious outdoor area, alongside having access to the reception class garden. The role of the adult is crucial here in supporting, extending and developing the skills and knowledge of the children.

Using your funded hours for Sunflowers Nursery Class

Parents are very welcome to use their government funded hours to book a place for their child.  All of the hours can be claimed for the Nursery Class or these hours can be shared with another setting. This needs to be arranged prior to the start of each funding window; 1st September, 1st January, 1st April.

We run our Nursery Class through sessions, a morning session and an afternoon session. Each session is 3 ¾ hours, making a whole day 7 ½ hours. Therefore, if using the Universal 15 hours funding a child will have 4 sessions or 2 full days in the nursery class, and 8 sessions or 4 full days if using 30 hours of funding.

We do not restrict the number of sessions requested however funded hours must cover a whole session/number of sessions, for example if you request 3 sessions you must have 11.25 hours of funded hours available to support your request.  We do not accept part sessions.

Consumables

To help us to continue to provide a high quality, nurturing environment for your child, we apply a small consumables charge for those using funding.    This contributes to the everyday items that are essential for your child’s comfort, care and learning while they are with us.

The £4.50 consumable charge per session covers items such as:

  • £1.25 Snacks and milk
  • 75p Crafts, sensory and creative materials
  • £2.00 Enriched experiences and visitors
  • 75p Wipes, tissues and intimate care equipment

These items are used daily and shared across the setting, allowing us to maintain high standards of care, cleanliness and engaging learning experiences for all children.  We are committed to being transparent with our fees and the consumables charge ensures that these necessary resources are consistently available without compromising the quality of care we provide.

 TESTIMONIALS

"Despite only attending one day a week, Friday definitely became {his} favourite day of the week. He always came out of nursery so happy and loved all the different experiences during his time at Sunflowers. We know he is really going to miss the lovely teachers, but hopefully he will still see them as he will be joining Reception in September. He has been so excited to attend his settling in sessions at Ivy Lane, and we know it's because he's had such a great start at the school by attending Sunflowers, so thank you so much to everyone!"  Parent from the Class of 2023
